Lance & Lisa: The Covert Proposal

Lance contacted me a couple months ago regarding my Groupon promotion and asked if I could make a covert proposal shoot happen for him and I said, “ABSOLUTELY!!” So he bought my Groupon and we emailed each other about the details. Lance was so detailed in his correspondence sending me maps with targets showing me where he was planning on getting down on one knee, the sunset schedule of the day, down to the minute, letting me know what car he was driving and what they were wearing and keeping me informed of all of his plans for the day. Everything had to be perfect as they were traveling from the East Coast. When the day came I was so excited that I arrived early to scope out the trail and the view and I was stunned and dumbfounded. I stood in amazement as I watched the clouds move around the sun’s sparkling shine, casting shadows and strokes of light on the still sea and I thought, “man, Lance’s girlfriend is a lucky lady!” Then I came back from my amazement and thought of my game plan. I’d follow them, act like a crazy tourist taking photos of everything, including them, hopefully she won’t take too much stock in my camera facing her, and I’d hide in the bushes! The hiding in the bushes didn’t happen after I read the trail warnings about rattle snakes, but everything else did. When they arrived, Lance gave me a sly sideways glance and a smirk and I went into crazy tourist mode taking photos of placards, the view from all corners and angles, and the trail, but all really having taken pictures of them. When after the running and dust settled, they stood at the foot of the cliffs, talked a bit and Lance got down on one knee and ask her for her hand in marriage and it was beautiful, and more importantly, she was surprised. When he got up, he introduced me to Lisa and let her in on the whole thing and we all laughed together thinking how fortunate it was she didn’t identify me as a part of the plan! Allison and Shawn: Maternity Shoot

Allison and Shawn were such a pleasure to work with, they were relaxed, followed directions and Allison didn’t mind walking around in heels even though she was about 8 months pregnant! I was definitely impressed by her stamina, when I was pregnant, I didn’t get out of bed! She, however, didn’t mind walking the length of the pier, down to the beach and back to her car, all in her heels, and all while looking incredible! Shawn told me he wasn’t a smiler but I got a few out of him by the end of the shoot and those candids, oh, those candids, definitely told me he was fibbing. =0) I had so much fun with this couple! Jessi-Blonde Bombshell

She said it was her first time, but I couldn’t believe her, and you won’t either after seeing Jessi’s lovely boudoir shoot. Like many ladies, she bought my living social voucher for a chance to do something special for her boyfriend who was on the East Coast on military duty. Jessi was so much fun to pose and shoot because of her lighthearted attitude and great smile! The following photos were taken in her Encinitas apartment, my favorites have to be the ones taken in the living room, with her red couch and papasan!

Ashma and Abdul – A Celebration of Love

Ashma and Abdul took a vacation without the kids to beautiful North County San Diego. From Texas they bought my Groupon and were the first to redeem with me and their story was, like all love stories, beautiful. With two teenage children and over twenty years in the books they were truly in love and so gorgeous to just watch. Every once in a while you would catch a glimpse of the two exchanging amorous eyes and smiles filled with the happiness, hard work and experience of 20+ years. When they were married, they had a double wedding with Ashma’s sister and her sister hired a photographer who only captured them and not Abdul and Ashma. I hope to be able to capture your renewal one day, Ashma and Abdul!

Caitlyn – A Bubbly Beauty

For most, boudoir shoots are scary and intimidating. Even for the most confident woman, those first few seconds in front of the lens can prove to be a little difficult and even awkward, but Caitlyn did amazingly! When shooting boudoir photos, it is my absolute priority to make my ladies comfortable, and for that reason I go their pace, but with Caitlyn that was no concern of hers! Surprisingly, her worries were as small as making sure that she didn’t smile too much and making sure she didn’t look upset or mean in her photos. She definitely didn’t look mean, she looked sexy, playful, and sophisticated, see for yourself! Caitlyn wanted to put together an album for her fiance, Adam, for their wedding day. No doubt about it, he is going to love these! I enjoyed getting her to “smirk” for me and her girl-next-door-with-the-banging-body look worked well with all the lingerie she chose and the tribute to what her future last name would be was a nice touch for her fiance. This bride-to-be shined in front of my camera in her San Diego apartment and I would love to shoot her again just to see her shining aura. =0)

Jess – Exuding Confidence

Jessica bought my Living Social promotion back in February. She wanted to take some sexy photos for her husband before he left for deployment. They are stationed at Camp Pendleton and have been married for a few years. It was refreshing to meet a young, beautiful military wife who is dedicated completely to her husband and their family. It’s not too often that you hear the good, “happily ever after” stories from military communities or even with those of this generation, but Jessica was a breath of fresh air. She was comfortable in front of the camera from the very start which was a pleasant surprise for me! She exudes confidence and sexiness which you will see below. The first part of her shoot she posed in her husband’s den where he plays video games and watches sports, the man cave, in a soccer jersey of his favorite team! Very nice touch! I’m sure her husband will appreciate every part of this shoot that was meant to excite and entice him!

Charity & John – Engaged!

Charity & John were the winners of my January giveaway contest. They were the first to send in the story of how they met and won a free on-location engagement session. With help from my old friend Angela from middle school, Charity was able to get word on the giveaway and made it a point to write to me as soon as possible. Her and John met at her brother’s birthday party a few years ago and discovered their mutual enjoyment of country music. They both saved the party and everyone’s belongings as they were all being robbed by an intruder who was not only partying it up with people he didn’t know but stealing something from everyone there. As Charity thought she lost something but actually misplaced it, she told John who happens to be a police man and he saved the day by recovering everyone’s things. The night was going smoothly for both of them and they ended up having their first kiss, that night, by the toaster. =0)

In speaking to Charity regarding her shoot, I was excited to know that she had done her research and knew exactly what she wanted. Her rural/country theme (no surprise there, being that their first conversation was about how they love country music) had me scouring Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista and San Marcos for empty fields with tall grass, with no snakes, and low police patrol, just in case we would be unknowingly trespassing =0). Fortunately for me, North County San Diego is filled with empty fields and that rural feel she was looking for and her fiance, John. Charity is the perfect bride-to-be, as she knows exactly what she wants, which makes my job so easy! This being my first rural/country engagement shoot, Charity and John were great and very supportive when I thought bugs were crawling on me. Most of the day was sunny with clouds rolling in and out of our shoot, but that didn’t stop us from capturing the amazing light the day provided and their amazing shots. Their love was amazing to shoot, but of course, love always is. Listening to these two jokingly argue, their words full of playful sarcasm reminds me of my relationship with my best friends and I can only imagine that this is the type of relationship that will last a lifetime, the type of relationship you are comfortable in to be yourself. The following images were shot at Leo Carrillo Park and in an open field off of Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real in Carlsbad, CA.

Ms. Michelle – Sassy and Sophisticated

This business owner knows her stuff and showed that she knows how to keep it sexy and sophisticated on camera, too. Michelle Martin, owner of MJoy Group, a Sports and Entertainment Company, showed me her sassy side as she posed in her sexiest lingerie for her fiance’s eyes only! The two will be celebrating their wedding in the Billabong house in Hawaii in a few weeks, and their engagement story was enough to make any woman swoon! Let’s just say they got engaged during sunset in Africa! It was great to meet a business woman who could provide great advice and perspective in running my own business independently. We had a great time on our shoot and Michelle provided me with great ideas and knew exactly how to pose her body in the most flattering positions. She made my job terribly easy. She invited me to their beautiful Rancho Santa Margarita home which proved to be a great backdrop for these exclusive photos! Mr. Martin is a lucky and very smart man for wifing this beautiful, sexy and intelligent bombshell! Best of luck to you, Michelle and Morgan!

Neisha Scales – A Scholar and a Lady

My sister just told me that she has known Neisha since the day she started school at San Diego State University, and after 4 years of studying, all-nighters, endless papers and, of course, partying, Neisha is graduating this year! When she asked me to capture some images of her in her “native habitat” on the SDSU campus I was so excited! Even though my sister had gone to SDSU all these years I hadn’t once stepped foot on campus, but when I got the opportunity to shoot Neisha, I finally got to see it. With all of it’s Spanish influenced architecture with the juxtaposition of modern and contemporary architecture SDSU was a perfect background for Neisha’s shoot, not to mention all of the memories this place holds for Neisha. I got to meet her amazing mother, Toni, and finally realized why Neisha has grown to become such an amazing young woman. As usual, she looked beautiful, exuding confidence and always sweet. Congratulations to the class of 2012!

Cathy – The Belly Dancing Beauty

Ooooh Mrs. Catherine Ventrone! Mrs. Ventrone’s daughter bought herself and her mother one of my boudoir package deals on Living Social. Being that she was only in town for a few days to meet her grandson, she called me on short notice and had me come and shoot her before she left for home in Washington DC. Catherine was amazing and beautiful and it was such a pleasure to make her acquaintance. She is bubbly, beautiful and from what I hear, an amazing belly dancer! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see any of her moves, maybe next time she’s in town. The following photos are from her shoot in Oceanside at her daughter’s home. Can’t wait to shoot her again some day and to shoot her daughter soon!

The first part of our shoot had an Audrey Hepburn essence! As beautiful as Catherine is, she had no problem with depicting the role and adding a little spice to the character as well!
